Treatment Timeline
During your consultation, a treatment timeline will be discussed. In many cases, replacement teeth can be placed the same day as your dental implants. Typically, this initial tooth, bridge, or full set of teeth is used during the healing or osseointegration period (when the implants are bonding to the jaw bone), and is made of all acrylic. Once your implants have successfully ‘osseointegrated’ and you are able to eat hard and crunchy foods again, a definitive prosthesis (usually containing a rigid metal substructure) is fabricated. Many times the teeth themselves in the final bridge are made of porcelain or ceramic, for a more natural appearance.
