Norwalk Dental Implants: The Road to Smile Restoration
Norwalk dental implants are the best possible solution modern dental science has to offer patients presenting with single or multiple missing teeth. Our teeth – as hard and resilient as they are – can be lost or need removal. Even people that maintain an excellent standard of oral health and hygiene can require Norwalk dental implants due to some unforeseen accident resulting in the irreparable cracking, damaging or complete loss altogether of single or multiple teeth. As we approach our late adulthood, tooth loss becomes a more pervasive problem that we become far more susceptible to, mostly due to the onset of periodontal (gum) disease. So, let’s stop for a moment and think about losing teeth and the effects this has upon our lives. There are literally thousands who really couldn’t care less about losing a few teeth and they wear their ‘gappy’ smiles with the confidence that says: “this is testament to my life story; enjoy!” If this is you, then all the power to you, read no further.
However, if the thought of losing one or more of your pearly whites makes you shudder at the thought of how your once beautiful smile used to make people turn and look (for the right reasons), then perhaps Norwalk dental implants are a solution you may need to consider in the future, or for some, even immediate future! Our teeth are what make our smiles beautiful. But beyond simple aesthetics they are also there for a reason! Eating and speaking are rendered incredibly difficult without teeth – even a single missing tooth. While we tend to only think of the social challenges associated with edentulism, struggling to eat results in poor nutrition and a whole host of negative feedback effects! So, what are Norwalk dental implants and how can they literally save our lives from constant challenge and social embarrassment?
Norwalk Dental Implants: How They Work
Norwalk dental implants essentially consist of a self-supporting artificial tooth root that is crafted from the extremely strong and non-corrosive metal, titanium. This “artificial root” is placed to fit snugly into the tooth socket left bare by the missing tooth/teeth while the ceramic tooth crown affixed to it is made to act as a normal and healthy tooth would; to bite, tear and chew (depending on the location of the missing tooth/teeth). The choice of titanium from which the artificial root is made stems back to pioneering work done by Swedish orthopedic surgeon, Professor Per-Ingvar Brånemark who found from his research experiments that this metal is capable of biologically fusing with bone tissue. It is the process termed ‘osseointegration’ that makes Norwalk dental implants possible as a tooth replacement technique, because once the artificial tooth root has bonded with the jaw bone, it can look, feel and work just like a natural healthy tooth!
Norwalk Dental Implants: A Final Note
Teeth can become displaced due to a number of reasons; decay, chronic illness, genetics, accidental trauma and more. Norwalk dental implants enjoy an incredible success rate of 98% and it is for this reason that they offer the most comprehensive solution to single or multiple missing teeth.
