Replacing All of Your Teeth

In Europe during the early 1990s, the founder and CEO of world renowned MALO CLINIC, Dr. Paulo Malo, developed the All-on-4™’; a dental implant technique that would go on to become the most important breakthrough in the fields of fixed oral rehabilitation and dental implantology to have been made in recent decades. Since its early days, the All-on-4™’ dental implant technique has gone on to literally rescue the quality of life of tens of thousands of people suffering from tooth loss and edentulism. This state is described by not having any of your original adult teeth left and is largely brought on by advanced periodontal (gum) disease.

Tooth loss and edentulism is a reality that a significant percentage of the population faces as they enter into their late adulthood. In fact, according to the Center for Disease Control, approximately 20 million people in the United States have lost all of their teeth while a staggering 100 million people have already lost 11 to 15 of their original adult teeth! It is unfortunate that many patients presenting with bone loss are frequently told by their dentists that they are not candidates for traditional dental implant techniques. However, with the revolutionary ‘All-on-4™’ technique at the MALO Dental Implants Facility, they almost always are candidates!

The ‘All-on-4™’:The Procedure

As it was mentioned, periodontal disease is the leading cause of tooth loss and edentulism in the United States. The problem with this affliction is that the decay-wreaking pathogens in your mouth migrate deep into the gingival sulci (the natural crevice between the gum and tooth root) and can start causing bone loss in the jaw. Without the support of the bone, the roots of your teeth, which themselves may be starting to decay, become unstable and fall out or need removal. Where the ‘All-on-4™’ procedure differs from traditional dental implant techniques is that it almost never requires bone grafting surgery before placing implants. Bone grafting involves the transplanting of bone tissue to the sites of bone loss in the jaw. Not only is this procedure painful and incredibly costly for the patient, but it also takes months of healing before the bone is strong enough to support dental implants. So, previously, most patients were looking at a period of at least three to nine months before they could enjoy the benefits of oral rehabilitation.

The‘All-on-4™’ Procedure: How It Works

dental-implants-bone-anglesIt is the ingenious design behind the ‘All-on-4™’ that enables the dental team at the MALO Dental Implants Facility to give patients suffering from periodontal disease, tooth loss and edentulism a full set of beautiful new and non-removable (fixed) teeth in as little as a single dental appointment! Traditional techniques generally require six, eight and even more dental implants to be inserted in order to restore the aesthetics and functionality of the oral cavity plagued by periodontal disease. And even then, often this can only be successfully performed once bone grafting had been done, which typically takes between three and nine months to heal before implant placement can commence. The ‘All-on-4™’ dental implant technique consists of a fully customized prosthetic dental bridge (a rigid structure consisting of a full set of aesthetic and functional teeth) affixed to only four dental implants:

  • Two are inserted in the anterior (front) portion of the jaw, where there is generally a greater volume of bone; and
  • Another two are inserted at an angle in the posterior portion of the jaw so as to reap maximum support from the bone there while avoiding damage to vital structures such as the nerve canal in the lower jaw and sinus cavity in the upper jaw.

With the help of sophisticated computer imaging software, 3D CAT scans and X-rays, our oral surgeons at MALO Dental Implants are able to insert the dental implants with minimal incisions and sutures, making the ‘All-on-4™’ a far less invasive technique. This means minimal post-operative pain and discomfort. Once the dental implants are inserted, our prosthodontist, or your own dentist, takes over and fits the ‘All-on-4™’ prosthetic dental bridges on the same day, giving patients their new and beautiful teeth, which they can admire and use right away!

The ‘All-on-4™’ Dental Implant Technique: A Comprehensive Solution

The ‘All-on-4™’ technique gives patients a complete set of new, functional and aesthetic teeth that are fixed and non-removable, all in a single day; in a single dental appointment! When compared to traditional teeth replacement techniques, there simply is no better option for patients that are already edentulous, or facing an immediate future of edentulism.
