Dr. Paulo Malo: Brief Bio

Born in Angola in September 1961, Dr. Paulo Malo grew up and received his secondary education in Africa. His tertiary education in Cape Town, South Africa saw interests explored from marine biology to nuclear physics, but a meeting with the legendary Christian Barnard (the first ever surgeon to perform a successful heart transplant) inspired him to enter into medicine. Dr. Paulo Malo’s first area of interest was neurosurgery, which was a field desperately needing research and development. However, political and social conflicts caused by terrible apartheid regime in South Africa prompted his parents to send him to Portugal to complete his studies. It was only in Lisbon that Dr. Paulo Malo decided to embark upon an ambitious education at the University of Lisbon’s Faculty of Dental Medicine.

Since these early days, Dr. Paulo Malo has become a major contributor to medical science and the field of dentistry with his regular journal and textbook publications. He also frequently appears at international conferences as a guest speaker, lecturing on key issues related to medical science and health management. But perhaps this man’s greatest cause for recognition is the development of the ‘All-on-4™’ dental implant procedure, which has completely revolutionized the field of dental science and oral aesthetics.
